The Eye Youth Club - Bristol
Stephen Williams, the local MP, seeing The Eye Youth Club in action for himself.
“The Eye Youth Club” was organised in Bristol to provide young people with a weekly evening of fun activities at a local youth club. One of the young people from the youth club, Alice Kitcatt, applied to Starbucks Youth Action for funding for promotion of the youth club and the provision of guitar sessions.
- Starbucks Youth Action awarded The Eye a £1000 grant and the Elmgrove Centre in Redland has now been transformed into a hub of activity every Friday night.
- Five-a-side football, air hockey, bouncy castle, Xbox, tuck shop and table tennis are just a few of the activities now provided.
- The name The Eye reflects its function - to be “the eye of the storm” - a place for those of secondary school age to relax.
- Starbucks also provided coffee for a re-launch event in April this year. Since then, The Eye has consistently seen around 50 young people, from all faiths and backgrounds, coming through their doors each week.
